What about an argument or standoff that by now is purely ego?

The other day I was thinking about what I ought to do. I don’t precisely remember where the story came from, but I do remember where I heard it. I’ve carried it for a long time. I may not even recall it right, but I believe a French existential author wrote it. I remember it like this. Two strangers need to fall in love in five days, or death will take them. What would it take? What would it give me?
What about an argument or standoff that by now is purely ego? If you don’t take each other back in five days, you die. What does it take? Empathy mostly, and forgiveness.

  1. Interesting dilemma, I wonder if it’s possible to fall in love intentionally under threat of death. Maybe an element of danger would bond the couple.

    1. The circumstances certainly do.
It is choosing life. In my view it is the surrender to each other and melding of needs. When together the goal is one and success is for both. “I want you to live so I can live too”. It doesn’t work the other way around. Thank you for stopping by. You comment made me think a while. Cheers!
